What’s Eating You? Poetry & Poop

April 19 , 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

April is Poetry Month, it contains Easter, and hosts Earth Day. So this month Rideau Eco-
Literacy Center for Children is going to explore how eco-systems work at the most fundamental
level- Who is eating who? We are going to trace the food chains back to the original who-
done-it: means, opportunity, and most of all motive! (Hint- Energy)
We will try to untangle the food web with games and hands-on activities. Then we will digest
some of that "big brain" vocabulary and turn it into magnificent magnet poetry.
The concepts covered in this workshop are introduced in Grade 1, examined in depth in Grade
4 and again in grade 6 in the Ontario Science Curriculum- give your young learner a leg-up or
some review!
Key Concepts: Habitat, Eco-System, Food Chain, Food Web, Hierarchy, Herbivore, Omnivore,
Carnivore, Producers, Consumers, Decomposers, Energy Transfer, and Poop.
