Line Follower Challenge with Steampunk Robotics Inc. Ages 8-14

July 31 , 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Each day is a stand alone workshop

At Lego Robotics camp, participants use LEGO Spike sets to build a robot that can complete a challenge (move items, complete a maze, race) or compete against other participants’ sumo-bot creations. Then, using laptops and Scratch they code their robots and compete, then solve structural and programming challenges. In the line follower challenge, the attendees learn how to build a robot that follows a black line. The workings of a line follower robot are pretty straightforward. These robots have the capability to detect a black or dark line on a lighter surface depending on the contrast. They estimate whether the line underneath them is shifting toward their left or right as they move over them. Based on that estimation, they give respective signals to the motors to turn left or right so as to maintain a steady center with respect to the line.

Participants are asked to please bring a snack. Registration will open on June, 17 at 9:00am

Many thanks to the Elizabeth Kelly Foundation for their generous financial support of this program!
