Book Club in a Bag
The library has a number of book club sets with 8-10 copies per set just for our book clubs. Sets can be reserved via our Kitkeeper system by clicking the link above. These sets are lent as a kit, so one member of your book club can reserve a set, pick up the entire set from the library, distribute it to the members of your book club during your meeting, and pick them all up at the following meeting before returning the set to the library. You can also pick up tracking sheets to help you keep track of who borrowed which copy.

A Book Club in a Bag is a set of multiple copies (8 to 10) of one title for use by book clubs and book discussion groups.
Who can borrow Book Club in a Bag?
Book Club in a Bag can be borrowed by any book club. Members of the club with a valid Perth Union Library card can check out a set for distribution to club members. The person who reserves the set must pick up the set from the library, and it is signed out to you for six weeks. The person who borrows the set is responsible for returning the complete set. We recommend distributing and picking up set books to return to the library at your regular book club meetings!

The person who borrows the set for a Book Club is responsible for returning the complete set.
How long can book clubs keep a Book Club in a Bag?
Book Club sets can be borrowed for six weeks.
Can Book Club sets be renewed? Are there fines on Book Club sets?
No. Book Club sets cannot be renewed. Overdue fines for Book Club sets are $1 per day. It is important to return all books in a Book Club set on time as other book clubs may have reserved the set.

Can I suggest a new title for the Book Club sets? Can I sponsor a Book Club set?
Yes! New book club sets are added to the collection each year in June/July. The library purchases 4 new book club sets , and around 6 new book club sets are sponsored by community members. Titles are selected from a range of reviews and suggestions, and a suggested title list is sent out to our community book club contacts once a year in May/June for additional input. If you are sponsoring a set, your club may select the title and dedication plates may be added if you wish. It is $300 to sponsor a book club set of 10 copies.
Can I donate books for a Book Club set?
While we prefer folks to sponsor a set, yes, you can! We will need at least 8 copies of the book. Books need to be in good condition, and titles should be less than five years old.
